Oh no!

On no!  We had a diaper catastrophe today!  (Picture 1: Rhett's Oh no! face, the following pictures are trying to catch the Oh no! face on camera.)  Rhett and I were playing downstairs this morning while Leah was sleeping.  I noticed he was grabbing his "business" a lot and asked him if needed to go to the potty.  Well, we didn't make it in time.  As I was trying to round him up to go upstairs to his potty, I started noticing wet spots on my jeans, on the rug.  My response as a first time mom was, "is his sippy leaking?"  Uh... no, not his sippy.  I unzip his PJs and there is NO diaper on him.  So we get upstairs to the bathroom and I take off his PJs and find the diaper down in the left leg.  His socks are soaked in pee as are his PJs.  So into the bath we go for a quick lather and rinse.  Still wondering how this all happened.  Can't even blame the bad diaper assembly on dad... I'm the one who put that diaper on him this morning.  The most disturbing part of this whole ordeal; Rhett didn't seem to mind he was soaked in pee.

Baby, it's cold outside

When Great-Grandma Fisher gave Leah this hat and mitten set when she was born, I never thought she would be big enough to wear them.  It's a good thing Great-Grandma was thinking ahead!  We didn't get out today (this picture is actually from last week when we took a walk on one of the "warm days").  We have freezing rain tonight and it is supposed to turn to snow before the morning.  The kids around town are hoping for a snow day tomorrow, but Coach Wert is hoping for school.  His girls are the 2nd seed in the Sedgwick Tournament this week and play their first game tomorrow night.  Go Lady Broncos!

Our growing girl is 4 months old today

Leah is really getting fun.  She can keep herself entertained on her play mat, laugh when she's tickled, and smile at her brother when he talks to her.  She weighs over 11 pounds now and the sitter said she is drinking everything I send for her so we're going to up her bottles.  She's so sweet.  Thanks cousin Blake for this cute outfit you gave her for Christmas!

What a big boy!

Rhett seems to be enjoying his Lightning McQueen toilet seat.  He sits on it several times a day.  We read books, he drives his car on his legs.  He has such a great time, he doesn't even think about going to the bathroom!  So, nothing has gone in the pot, but Rhett sure likes to be on it.  When he actually does go some day, we'll throw such a fuss, he'll probably be scared to do it again.  (And some day he'll thank us for posting this picture of him on the toilet on the internet!)

In the beginning...

Well, we had a good run but the poop in the bathtub is back.  Rhett hadn't pooped in the tub for over 2 weeks but Monday night he did it again.  This time though, he said "Toot, toot," before he did it.  So Momma is really starting to talk about potty training.  Grandma and Papa Fisher's neighbor gave the kids some money for Christmas so I think we will buy a potty chair.  I saw an Elmo toilet ring online so hopefully that will help our cause.  As for now, I'm making Ben take Rhett with him every time he goes so Rhett can watch him.  Before his  bath tonight Rhett stood on a stool in front of the toilet while the tub filled up.  He didn't go but he kept saying "potty."  Wish us luck!

Back to work

Today was Momma's first day back after the holiday so the first day back to daycare too.  I had to wake up both kids... I hate doing that!  We had a late night last night because Daddy had an away basketball game (he won, by the way).  Rhett was not ready to get up and just wanted Daddy to love on him for awhile.  Doesn't he look sweet?  Rhett, I mean.
The picture of Leah is in her swing this evening.  I put her in there while we were eating supper not really expecting her to sleep but it got quiet pretty quick.  She must have been worn out form the day too.  She was a trooper at the game last night.  She is so content.  She has an eye infection and has been waking up all matted shut.  It doesn't seem to bother her until I start to clean it out.  Poor baby.

Date night

Thanks to Uncle JJ and Aunt Rach for watching the kids while Ben took Erin on a date for her birthday.  We went to see the traveling exhibit, Our Bodies, at Exploration Place.  It is  series of cadavers intricately dissected with basic physiology information.  Nothing more romantic than looking at dead bodies.  We were both particularly impressed with the displays of the circulatory system.  How they were able to maintain the smallest of capillaries through dissection is amazing.  We are also lucky to see the traveling exhibit, The Scoop on Poop.  Erin was more grossed out by this than the cadavers.  Did you know rabbits poop their food twice?!  They eat it the first time right out of the shoot and then poop the little turds the second time!

The second part of the date was to a shoe store to buy Erin new tennis shoes.  She is getting a bunion on her left foot that has been bothering her so she is really excited about the shoes she found.  Ben also found a pair of shoes... hopefully this did not come out her birthday shoe budget.

We finished the night with a dinner for two.  We even ordered an appetizer!  Big spenders!

Christmas 2008

We were fortunate to spend time with both the Fisher and Wertenberger families last week.  Grandma Karla got the Fisher cousins these jammies to wear Christmas morning.  Rhett is here with Will (1) and Nate (3).  Two more Fisher cousins are coming in 2009.  Edee (pictures) and Justin are having another boy in February, and Cory and Derek announced, as we were taking family pictures, that they are due again in August.
I guess Santa didn't read Leah's wish list right...  She really is a happy baby most of the time (except when fighting naps!).
While we were in Sabetha, we celebrated 3 Christmases.  One with our immediate family, of course, and also with the McKim's and also the Wertenberger's.  ALL of the McKim family gathered at the farm on the 26th.  Rhett is eating dinner with his cousin Drew and second cousins, Kassie and Kaylee.

Because we were in NE Kansas we were unable to get together with Erin's extended Fisher family in Garden City on the 27th.  Erin's cousin, Brooke and her family from California were there.  We have not met her daughter Salem in person yet and she will be 1 this month!
