Siblings and Friends

When I got out of the shower the other morning, the house was silent with the exception of Rhett reading "Polar bear, polar bear, what do you hear?" I snuck out to the sunroom and "caught" the kids doing this:
Getting along!
It was so cute to hear Rhett reading to Leah. He would pause and see if she knew the sound for the animals. He was a great affirmer when she was right and quick to correct her when she was wrong. He thinks it is his responsibility to teach her everything...

Back off, Ladies. He's mine!

My dad gave Ben and old chainsaw and Ben has been boasting his manhood ever since. If you can't tell, he's wearing a bike helmet, soundproof ear muffs, and safety goggles.
What a MAN!
I know you're jealous.

And the home of the... CHIEFS!

Thanks to Uncle Gary and Aunt Connie and Big Papa and Grandma Sauce for keeping Rhett and Leah for us last weekend so Ben and I could have a little pre-baby date! Job and Josh have season tickets for the Chiefs and offered them to us for a game. We ended up choosing the Jacksonville game. It was a beautiful day and a fun game ending with a Chiefs win. We stayed in KC Saturday night, ate dinner ALONE and walked around Village West at a leisurely pace. Our hotel was right next to the KC Wizards soccer stadium and they were hosting their final home game of the season. The won too and celebrated with a 15 minute fireworks show that we watched from our hotel room. A great night!
So steep! Once people were sitting in front of us, I felt a little more comfortable. At least there would be someone to break my fall!
This was the first time for me to go to a professional football game. We went to Arrowhead when K-State beat OU in the Big XII Championship, but when 80,000 people are cheering for the same team, the atmosphere is quite different! This game was also a reunion of sorts for me and my (pretend) college boyfriend, Jon McGraw, who plays for the Chiefs :)
Thanks again to all who made it possible for me to go on a date with my husband!!

In their own words

Just a few things we hear around our house...

Leah: It's darking.
Translation: It's getting dark or it's still dark.

Rhett: You are making me drive crazy!
Translation: You are driving me crazy!

Fill 'er up!

What happens when you move into a bigger house? Just ask Ben. He says, "Fill 'er up!"
Baby #3 is due April 30.
Yes! Momma still gets a maternity leave from school and the whole summer off!

Now, here are a few random pictures from the last few weeks :)
Leah at her birthday party. "I two!"

Rhett made elephant ears at preschool during E week.

Ben turned 35 on October 1 (gasp!)

Leah's Birth Day

Yesterday was Leah's 2nd birthday. We had a small celebration at home and then braved the wind for a trip to the park. If you ask her when her birthday is, she will tell you "September" and recognized when we said it was the 22nd that that was her birthday. However, she is still not convinced she is 2. Maybe after her party this weekend she'll believe it.
I made her cake shaped like a #2. She was able to blow out one candle but needed a little help with the second.

Rhett decided to forgo all silverware.
Can't believe she's 2 already... We love you, Leah!
Thumbs up, mom!
