A big change is coming...

The Wertenberger's are moving to the country!

We signed a contract today (whew, just in time for the tax credit!) on a home north and east of town. We didn't know we were looking to move, but one of Ben's former (I almost said old...) basketball players asked us in if we would be interested in looking at her grandparents' place. Megan had remembered that we said we wanted to live in the country "someday" and her grandparents had just moved to town. That was last fall and with basketball about to start, we politely declined. We both continued to think and pray on it and called them back over spring break. The house was still available so we went for a look.
After even more prayer, several visits, prayer, an inspection, and prayer we were ready to take the plunge! Aren't we spontaneous?!

The house was built in 1978 and will need some updating but we are looking forward to making it "our" home. We love the vaulted, beamed ceiling in the living room, the sunroom, and the sewing room. It sits on about 5 acres and has a machine shed (we have no machines... so if you need to rent storage space for your machine, let us know). We have taken the kids out there a few times and they enjoyed running down the "hill" of the south yard and swinging on the double glider swing in the front yard.

The praying isn't over. We need to sell our home in town. It's listed on craigslist and zillow if you'd like to see it or pass on the info to someone who might be interested in moving to Whitewater. We love this house. It has been good to us and it will be sad to leave it.

But we are looking forward to all the space that awaits us in the country!

Quality Time

It was a great weekend. We got to spend lots of quality time together. Thursday night we went to Rose Hill to meet baby Megan. Leah finally has a girl cousin! I was so busy holding a sweet, little sleeping Megan that I didn't take any pictures...

Friday night, Rhett was caught sharing his yogurt with Leah. Sometimes they are so sweet to each other. Can you see that he has his mouth open and tongue out trying to help her take the bite. We also played Cooties and Hulabaloo together before bed.
On Saturday, Rhett asked if we could have a picnic. So I packed his favorite meal: peanut butter triangles (like a quesadilla but with PB&J instead of cheese), cheese sticks, fruit, and milk. We walked to the park and ate supper at the picnic table and then played for a while.
Notice Leah climbing up the rungs to the slide... all by herself! She has no fear!
Rhett decided to pull the wagon home instead of riding. He got Leah home in one piece without any help (that's about 6 blocks).

We had Big Papa and Grandma Sauce for supper tonight/Sunday. They had come down to see baby Megan and came through here on their way home. It was a great way to end a fun weekend together.

Bushel & a Peck

One of our favorite songs right now is Bushel & a Peck. Leah requests it by saying, "Peck? Peck?" Whether we are listening to VeggieTales sing it or we are singing it at bedtime, everyone joins in.

I love you a bushel and a peck
A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck
A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap
A barrel and a heap and I'm talkin' in my sleep about you
About who?
About you
